대학생의 직업윤리 결정요인에 관한 연구 = A Study on the Determinants of Work Ethic in College Students

국문 초록 (Abstract)

본 연구는 학생들을 대상으로 프로테스턴트 직업윤리(Protestant Work Ethic; PWE)의 대표적 척도인 Mirels & Garrett(1971)의 설문을 사용하여 PWE와 성격유형 및 공정성변수와의 관계를 구명하고 인구통계특성변수에 따른 PWE 차이를 검증하였다.
PWE와 성격유형 및 공정성변수들의 관계에 대한 가설은 분배 공정성을 제외하고는 유의한 관계를 나타내는 것으로 검증되었다. 다만 성취욕구와 여가부정은 가설에서 설정한 관계의 방향과 반대로 나타났다. 인구통계특성에 따른 PWE 차이에 대한 가설은 성에서는 유의한 차이가 없고 계층, 종교, 출신고교에 따라 유의한 차이를 나타내는 것으로 검증되었다. 특히 금욕성향에서 가설이 적극적으로 지지되었다. 분석결과를 기존연구에 입각하여 논의하였고, 아울러 연구의 한계와 방향성을 제시하였다.

다국어 초록 (Multilingual Abstract)

Max Weber argued that Protestant work ethics(PWE) Played an important role in the development of capitalism in the West. Weber's thesis stimulated various research about the relationship between religion and economic attitudes.
The purpose of this paper was to examine relationships and differences between PWE and related variables. A survey questionnaire was used to measure PWE values from Mirels & Garrett(1971)'s PWE scale. The sample is composed of college students.
Results revealed that external locus of control, need for achievement, justice world scale showed significant relationship with PWE characteristics. And there was a considerable difference among social classes, religions, highschool backgrounds in terms of PWE characteristics. The possible reasons for the findings were discussed in the light of previous studies. Also implications, limitations and directions of study were suggested.
