The world is currently suffering disasters and damages due to climate change, and many countries globally are making efforts to address the climate crisis. In Korea, various policies related to greenhouse gas reduction are being implemented. In this study, we focused on the Climate Change Impact Assessment system.
Based on previous research, we analyzed the problems and limitations of implementing Climate Change Impact Assessments and proposed directions for effective future assessments. In doing so, we emphasized the close relationship between the environment and the economy, providing development directions from an economic perspective.
Through the analysis of previous research, shortcomings in Climate Change Impact Assessments have been identified, such as narrow evaluation criteria and standards, lack of quantified evidence, and falsification or inadequate documentation in assessment reports and procedures. To address these issues and enhance the assessment system, considering the interdependence of the environment and the economy, the following proposals for the future development of Climate Change Impact Assessments have been suggested. Firstly, functionality will be added to enable reduction goals through korean offset projects. Secondly, the process of gathering public opinions will be strengthened. Hoping that with these development directions, an effective Climate Change Impact Assessment system can be established and operated efficiently.
