Gaseous fuels use to gas power generation systems such as a compressed natural gas (CNG) engine, a hydrogen combustion engine, and a fuel cell system. In these systems, injection rate of gaseous fuels is precisely controlled to improve performances of systems. ln this paper, injection control characteristics of a solenoid valve for gaseous fuel injection are studied. Static and dynamic injection rate for on-time variation of a solenoid valve open signal are measured in basic bench test. The solenoid valve is applied to a CNG engine test for validation of injection rate control performance. The experimental results show that fuel injection rate can be controlled precisely on a gas power generation system such as the CNG engine.
