When we teach biology subject section for human respiratory system using explanatory meaningful learning approach, we need to prepare an advanced organizer in the class. Such an introductory advanced organizer is a necessary teaching accessory in current science subject to replace from preconception or misconception to the scientific concept to the student. Human respiratory system is one of the most challenging part to 2nd grade of middle school students in biology part. Therefore, we used a prepared advanced organizer as an introduction part in the classes to measure academic achievement from the attended pupils to find out whether the advanced organizer affected any positive impact. The four of 2nd grade class students in ``W`` middle school located in CheongJu was confirmed to be a homogeneous group in a pretest then, which was divided into two groups; a control group(68 students) and an experimental group(65 students). The experimental group was taught with advanced organizer by using teaching and learning instruction method but the control group was taught by the traditional explanatory teaching and learning process without any advanced organizer for over four hours each. Preand postprocessing ttest were conducted to get any differences between two groups, and the result showed some significant outcomes in academic achievement between two groups. Based on this study, application of advanced organizer in current biology education especially in the section of human respiratory system proved to be effective in scientific concept catching and improving academic achievement.
