한국과 일본의 손원평 『아몬드』의 수용 -번역되는 ‘괴물’과 새로운 세대의 서사- = Acceptance of Son Won-Pyung's Almond in Korea and Japan - Translated Monster and Stories of mz generation -

本稿では、2017年韓国で出版されたソン·ウォンピョンの『アーモンド』が2019年日本語で翻訳され日本で受容されるプロセスを考察し、「K-文学」の主な読者でもあるMZ世代への解釈を試みた。2020年「本屋大賞　翻訳小説部分　1位」を授賞した『アーモンド』は、アメリカをはじめ20ヶ国で翻訳されるなどグローバル的に注目を集めている。また、翻訳された『アーモンド』への反応は、韓国に逆流入しベストセラーランキングに入るなど、翻訳された『アーモンド』をめぐる変化は韓国にも影響を及ぼした。そもそも『アーモンド』の読者ターゲットは青少年だったけれど、誰でも共感できる話で個人が大事にされる新しい世代に意味のある内容だからグローバル的な読者層が厚いかもしれない。ところが、翻訳本とは、その言語が使われる共同体に違和感なく受け入れられるように変化を起こしたもので、原本が存在した社会と多少違う解釈をもって存在することもある。本稿では日本語翻訳版『アーモンド』が日本大衆文化の中で解釈される有り様を「怪物」を中心に分析した。まず、テクストにおける「知能」の削除、それから「正常」が「普通に」に変わる翻訳の問題を考察した。日本語翻訳版『アーモンド』には「怪物」から「「知能」が削除され、それによって解釈の多様性がもたらされた。そして、「正常」を「普通に」に翻訳することで、「正常」の価値基準があいまいになり、排除ではなく受容という解釈の可能性が出てきた。このような解釈は、その言語を使う共同体の文化や世界像に違和感のない形で翻訳されることでグロバール領域においても共有される。翻訳とそれによる多様な解釈が共有できる現象は、物理的な境界線に関わらずに世界と接触できる時代のMZ世代であるからこそ可能かもしれない。それでグロバール領域で翻訳される「怪物」は新しい世代を理解するひとつの手がかりであるかもしれない。

다국어 초록 (Multilingual Abstract)

This paper will examine the process of reception of Song Yuan-Ping's Almond in Japan, translated into Japanese in 2019. It will also attempt to interpret the book to the MZ generation, which is also the primary audience for K-literature. The book has been translated in 20 countries, including the U.S., and has attracted worldwide attention. The response to the translation of Almond has also had an impact in South Korea, where it ranked among the bestsellers in the country. This paper analyzes Almond translated into Japanese in Japanese popular culture, focusing on monsters. First, examine the deletion of intelligence in the text and the translation issue of changing normal to general. In the Japanese translation of Almond, intelligence was deleted from monster, thereby bringing diversity of interpretation. In addition, the translation of normal into general blurred the value criteria for normal, open up the possibility of an interpretation of acceptance rather than exclusion. This interpretation is shared in the global domain, translated according to the culture and worldview of the language-speaking community. This sharing of translations and diversification of interpretations may be a phenomenon possible only because the MZ generation has entered an age in which they can contact the world beyond physical boundaries. The monsters translated in the global realm may provide clues to understanding the new generation.
