중학교 학업성취도에 대한 학교 내 사회자본의 효과 분석 = The effect of social capital in school on academic achievement of Korean middle school students

다국어 초록 (Multilingual Abstract)

This study assessed the effect of social capital in school on academic achievement of Korean middle school students by using Korea Education Longitudinal Study(KELS) data of 2005-2007. This study used panel regression to analyze the data. Social capital in school includes the relationship among students and the relationship among teachers. On the other hand, to estimate the difference of the effect of social capital in school on academic achievement among regions, interaction terms of social capital in school and regions are used additionally. The result shows that the relationship among students has a positive effect on Korean, English and math achievement. The relationship among teachers affects Korean and English achievement positively. The relationship among students in small cities has a better effect on Korean and English achievement than Seoul. On the other hand, there is no significant difference of the effect of social capital in school on academic achievement among regions except the result that the relationship among students affects Korean and English achievement of small cities positively. In this regard, social capital in school such as the relationship among students has a positive effect on academic achievement of Korean middle school students, but there is a limited difference of the effect of social capital in school on academic achievement among regions.

국문 초록 (Abstract)

본 연구에서는 학교 내에서 구성되는 관계적 차원의 의미들을 학교 내 사회자본으로 설정하고 실제 학교 내에서 의미와 효과성을 탐색하고자 하였다. 이를 위하여 한국교육종단연구의 중1-중3 국어, 영어, 수학 성취도 검사 척도점수를 종속변수로 하여 패널회귀분석을 통해 학교 내 사회자본이 학업성취도에 미치는 영향을 종단적으로 분석하였으며, 이외에 학교 내 사회자본이 중학교 학업성취도에 미치는 영향력의 지역 간 차이를 분석하기 위해 지역 변인과 학교 내 사회자본 변인의 상호작용항을 추가적으로 투입하였다. 학교 내 사회자본 변인으로는 교우관계와 교사 간 관계가 사용되었다. 분석 결과 학교 내 사회자본 변인 중에서 교우관계가 국어, 영어, 수학 성취도에 긍정적인 영향을 미쳤고 교사 간 관계는 국어, 영어 성취도에 긍정적인 영향을 미쳤다. 지역 변인과 학교 내 사회자본 변인의 상호작용항 투입 결과 교우관계는 중소도시에서 서울특별시와 비교하여 국어 및 영어 성취도에 긍정적인 영향을 미쳤으나 그 외의 경우에는 학교 내 사회자본이 중학교 학업성취도에 미치는 영향에서 지역 간 차이는 유의미하지 않았다.
