In this study, monolithic SiC and C<SUB>f</SUB>/SiC were made by hot pressing method with SiC powder whose a particle size is 50nm and less on the average. Alumina (Al₂O₃), yttria (Y₂O₃) and silica (SiO₂) were used for sintering additives and ratios of Al₂O₃:Y₂O₃:SiO₂ composition was lockup to 6:4:3(in the case of C<SUB>f</SUB>/SiC carbon fiber was used reinforcement). The composite materials have been sintered for 1 hour at 1800℃ under the pressure of 20㎫. The carbon fiber investigated oxidation property by TGA for finding out decarburization point. So the carbon fiber was observed change of thermogravimetric from 0 to 1000℃ at 10℃/min by TGA-equipment. monolithic SiC and C<SUB>f</SUB>/SiC were evaluated in terms of heat-treatment characteristics for porous ceramics. As a result, decarburization point selected middle point of TGA curve and C<SUB>f</SUB>/SiC composite materials occurred perfectly decarburization at carbon fiber. The future, if it became sintering condition of optimization, porous ceramics will fabricate excellent property used reaction of carbon.
