<AbsText> OF SUCH RARE OCCURRENCE in the Scandinavia of the present day are those secluded spots where tourists are unknown and where the nomadic angler may successfully pursue his vocation for weeks together without falling in with a single member of the craft, save perhaps an occasional and not very expert native, that apology for giving no real names is hardly necessary when briefly describing a visit to one of these. So far, therefore, as locality is concerned, it will be sufficient to say that the streams referred to form a portion of one of the numerous and somewhat intricate water systems which converge towards the great Swedish lake Storsjo (on whose shores stands Ostersund, the principal town in Jemptland), and that it took us four days travelling-- by train, by small steamers, by country traps painfully destitute of springs, by boats, and, finally, some weary miles on foot-- from the shores of the Trondhjem Fjord to reach the tumbledown and uninhabited old hut which constituted our headquarters during certain weeks last summer. </AbsText>
