The purpose of this study is to clearly discern the will of God based on the words of Jesus Christ and to present the direction of proper missionary work accordingly. This study proceeded on the premise that Jesus Christ, having received the sending of the Father and incarnated as a human, dwelt among humanity, communicating in human language to most accurately convey the will of the Father, with His words being meticulously recorded in the Bible. Furthermore, this paper was proceeded on the premise that missionary endeavors can best align with the will of God when carried out in accordance with the words of Jesus who commanded missions.
Under the premises and objectives stated above, this study examined the teachings of Jesus Christ that can be interpreted as embodying or implying the “will of God,” aiming to explore how Jesus, who best represented God, taught the will of God. Through the analysis, it was found that the will of God manifested in Jesus’ teachings can be expressed as 1) leading the lost to the Father, 2) forgiveness of sins and salvation, and 3) eternal life and so on. If those are the revealed will of God in the teachings of Jesus, which serves as the most important criterion for Christian missions, then missionary work of the church should be established in this direction. In other words, desirable missionary direction should be conducted in a humble and dedicated manner following Jesus, prioritizing the task of preaching the Gospel to the world, and emphasizing the mission of leading lost souls to the Father for forgiveness of sins, salvation, and eternal life, as emphasized by Jesus.
