작곡가 이상근 이상근 가곡에 나타난 가사와 음악 관계 연구 -『아가 1』의 「아가」와 「행복은 이렇게 오더니라」를 중심으로- = Study on the relationship between the Lyrics and musical context of Lee Sang geun`s Lied -Focusing <Aga> and <Hangbok un Ileuke Odenira> of 《songs 1》-

This study examines the relationship between the lyrics and musical context of Lee Sang Geun`s <Aga> and <Hangbok un ileuke odenira> from 《songs I》. The characteristics can be summarized as follows.; First, one of the main characteristics is his emphasis He focused on the union of music and poetry, messages of the lyrics and musical expressions of the lyrics. In order to achieve this, he selected lyrics emphasizing Korean intonations, and rhythms, he set them with free rhythm, chromatic harmony, extended tonality and atonality which can effectively deliver the meaning and the mood of the lyrics when played as a song. Second, he composed lieder with competitive progression based on the conflicting relationships among each voices. This compositional technique is especially noticeable in the relationship between accompaniment and singing melody. According to the story and the characters of the lyrics, the voice progression in the piano parts maintains independent or competitive relationship. Although the accompaniments progress independently, they share musical figure and melodies with singing voice, which contributes to the consistency of the song as a whole. This study reveals Lee Sang Geun as a composer who suggested a new idiom of Korean lieder in which poems were musically reinterpreted. Lee Sang Geun had an outstanding talent for Korean lieder and created strongly individual and appealing musical realizations of poems.
