The analysis model consists of the mode choice and the route one which are in the form of independently on each other has limitation in building realistic travel pattern because of the lack of ability to consider transfer among modes. The purposes of this study, therefore, were to develop the mode choice-traffic assignment model capable of considering the interaction between mode and route choice, in order to realize the model, and to established the Intermodal Transportation Network linking other network of various travel characteristic structurally.
In developing the mode choice-traffic assignment model, the new type of mode was defined and it was developed to make the path-searching considering transfer among modes in the Intermodal Transportation Network to be possible. The definition of modes were subdivided into 23 kinds in accordance with the number of selected mode and the combination using the surveyed data previously. The routes of each mode were searched by calling the traffic network of modes used in the Intermodal Transportation Network and by appling the Link based Shortest Path Algorithm, in which it was assumed that the shortest path of modes related to transit did not consider invehicle-time. The built Intermodal Transportation Network has the structure of connecting the previous traffic network of each mode to the transfer link, in case of bus for example, the traffic network was developed for each route using the node and link with the concept of expanded traffic network.
In order to ensure the consistency of the result, the combined mode travel volume, from the proposed model in this study, the Loop system in which the mode choice and traffic assignment are repeated was applied. The consistency menas a stable state in which the mode and route are fixed. The statistical test for the consistency were performed by applying the L2-Norm Statistics that is capable of investigating the change of o-d Pair volume vector. The simulation with the developed model showed that its consistency is close to zero.
For the Implimentation, the policy effectiveness of the three Gus of Kang-nam, Seo-cho, and Song-pa were assessed by building Intermodal Network using a model consisted of mode choice and traffic assignment. The analysis of the policy of introducing transfer node at key point and the policy of increasing the number of bus line passing congestion route allowed us to determine the transition pattern of traffic of each policy and to acquire quantitative result.
The simulation test and the analysis of the policy effectiveness showed that the developed model in this study has enough reliability to be applied in real road network, and it is considered that the model is helpful in analysis of change of traffic policy and facilities which were not feasible for quantitative analysis in past
