A Study on the Awareness of Adult Learners about the Qualifications of Life-long Education Instructor
The purpose of this study was to examine the awareness of adult learners about the qualifications of instructors in charge of lifelong education in an attempt to step up the enhancement of the qualifications and professionalism of lifelong educators. It's basically meant to raise awareness of the importance of the roles of lifelong educators and to improve their status.
I set following specific research subjects of accomplish the research objectives.
First, how is the awareness of the adult learners about the qualifications of instructors in charge of lifelong education in consideration of their personal background and the characteristics of their participation in lifelong education?
second, how is the satisfaction level of the adult learners with the lessons ?
Third, how is the relationship between the awareness of the adult learners about the qualifications of the instructors and their satisfaction with their lessons?
The subjects in this study were the adult learners who received lifelong education in a lifelong education center located in the city of Bucheon, Gyeonggi Province. The selected adults learners were in their 20s and up. After a survey was conducted, the collected data were analyzed by the statistical package SPSS WIN 18.0, and frequency analysis, t-test, one-way ANOVA and correlation analysis were carried out.
The major findings of the study were as follows:
First, how the adult learners looked at the qualifications of the instructors from whom they received lifelong education was analyzed in consideration of their personal background and the characteristics of their participation in lifelong education. And it's found that they set the highest value on the personality and attitude of the instructors, and put the lowest value on their information supply and informative assistance. The adult learners prized the qualifications of the instructors, and the learners who never participated in the other programs valued their qualifications better than those who did.
Second, the satisfaction level of the adult learners with the lessons was analyzed. And it's found that they expressed a lot of satisfaction with their lessons, and the learners who never participated in the other programs were more satisfied with the instructors than those who did.
Third, the relationship between the awareness of the adult learners about the qualifications of the instructors and their satisfaction with their lessons was analyzed. And it's found that they were better satisfied with the lessons of the instructors when the instructors had a better understanding of their characteristics and when they set higher value on their qualifications involving program development, instructional design, teaching skills, personality, attitude, educational performance, information supply, informative assistance and professionalism.
The above-mentioned findings showed that the adult learners who viewed the qualifications of the instructors more favorably were better satisfied with their lessons. In order to raise the learning satisfaction of adult learners, the preparation of standardized educational programs is required, and the systematic management of lifelong educators is necessary as well to take their competency and qualifications to another level.
