The purpose of this study was to determine the effect of alcohol injestion(BAR, 0.05) on the power, balance, strength(back, arm), agility of 14 physical education college student aged from 19 to 21 years
The two experimental time trials involved ingestion of one of the two blood alcohol level(0.0 and 0.05 BAL. per body weight). a one week day intervel separated each of these session. Alcohol was administrated during one of the experimental session and no fluid was administrated as a control.
Following ingestion of the drink, the subjects were allowed a 30min absorption period after which venous blood sample was taken by an injector from an anteeubital vein. Results of the stuby can be summarized as follow.
1) No significant differences were found between the two alcohol dosages for agility.
2) The effect of alcohol on balance at each group showed no significant differences.
3) A trend suggesting decreased performance on back strength was evident(p<.01) but with no significant differences for arm strenth between each group.
4) Power was significantly not affected by alcohol dosages.
