한나 아렌트에 있어서 유대인, 유대민족, 유대인 정치 = Jews, Jewish People and Jewish Politics in Hannah Arendt

국문 초록 (Abstract)

한나 아렌트에게 있어 유대인 문제라는 주제는 그녀의 정치사상을 이해하는데 본질적인 관점을 점한다는 것은 비교적 최근의 아렌트 연구에 있어서 드러난 것이다. 유대인 문제에 대한 아렌트의 연구는 학문적 활동의 아주 초기 단계에서부터 중심적 과제였으며, 이를 통해 그녀의 정치사상의 깊이도 더해갔다. 아렌트는 민족을 이즘의 대상으로 삼지 않았고, 민족적 정체성도 개인 속에서 표현되는 한에서 중요성을 갖는 것으로 이해했다. 이런 바탕에서 아렌트는 주권 개념과 주권국가 개념에 대해 비판적 태도를 갖는다. 이는 한 국가 내에 거주하는 다른 민족들에 대해 배제의 논리를 만들어내기 때문이다. 따라서 아렌트는 팔레스타인지역에 독립주권국가 수립을 반대하고 다른 민족들과 공존할 수 있는, 평의회제도를 바탕으로 한 연방제를 주장한다. 오늘의 시점에서 보았을 때 그녀의 주장의 탁월성은 분명하므로 그녀의 주장을 단순한 현실정치에 대한 소박한 이해의 산물로 보는 것은 잘못이다.

다국어 초록 (Multilingual Abstract)

It is a rather recent academic out-come to argue that understanding to Hannah Arendt's themes related to the Jewish Question is a key to understanding her political thought. For it has taken a cardinal part of her political thought from its earliest stage. Arendt did not take the people (or nation) as the contents of an ism, but takes the national identity serious only in so far as it is expressed in an individual. On this ground, Arendt is critical to the concept of national sovereignty because it creates the logic of exclusion toward peoples residing within a nation's territorial boundary. Thus, Arendt argued against the establishment of the Jewish nation's independent state in Palestine, but argued for a federal state based on a council system so as to live with other peoples peacefully. From today's vantage point, it is wrong to regard her views on real politics as based on her naivete because it is evident to see the advantages of her views.
