방어공간의 영역성 연구

국문 초록 (Abstract)

방어공간의 영역성을 형성하는 것은 바로 범죄와 관련된 환경을 통제하기 위한 제반 노력이라고 할 수 있다. 인간은 선험적으로 방어본능을 가지고 있으며, 따라서 이를 위해 적절한 방어공간을 구축하고자 한다. 이러한 방어공간은 곧 ‘영역성’을 확보함으로써 형성된다. 따라서 범죄예방 및 통제를 위해서는 방어공간의 영역성을 어떻게 확보하고, 형성하느냐 하는 것이 관건이다. 이러한 방어공간의 영역성과 관련하여가장 1차적으로 중요한 곳이 바로 주거장소이다. 주거장소는 우리 삶의 근간이 되는장소이기 때문이다. 그러나 아이러니하게도 방어공간의 영역성이 가장 강하고 중요시되는 주거장소가 범죄로부터 가장 취약한 것이 현실이다. 따라서 방어공간의 영역성형성은 바로 주거장소의 재설계부터 시작되어야 한다는 것을 의미한다. 주지하는 바와 같이, 인간의 행동은 환경과의 복잡한 상호작용을 통해서 나타난다. 따라서 방어공간의 영역성을 형성하는데 있어서 환경에 대한 인간의 자극과 반응을이해하는 것을 매우 중요하다. 범죄행동이라는 것 역시 환경에 대한 지각, 인지, 태도의 과정 속에서 표출되기 때문이다. 그리고 이러한 인간의 행동에 가장 거시적·내면적으로 영향을 미치는 환경요인이 바로 문화라고 할 수 있다. 문화는 한 개인 또는 한 집단이 어떠한 환경에서 행동하는 정신적·물질적 토대가 되기 때문이다. 한편, 인간의 행동은 감각적 환경 즉, 색채, 조명, 소음, 바람, 기온, 대기오염 등에 영향을 받는다. 따라서 이러한 요소들 역시 중요하게 고려해야 한다. 그런데, 수많은 사람들이 살고 있는 장소 즉, 도시는 근본적으로 방어공간의 영역성을 형성하는데 본질적인 한계를 안고 있다. 바로 과밀화로 인한 도시혼잡의 문제이다. 이러한 문제를 해결하기 위해서는 도시의 각 영역을 추상적이고, 이질적인 ‘공간’ 개념에서 구체적이고 친밀한 ‘장소’의 개념으로 전환시킬 수 있는 노력이 이루어져야한다. 이를 위한 거시적 접근방법으로서 인간상호간의 사회적 가치를 지향하는 ‘지속가능한 도시발전’을 모색해야 할 것이다. 그리고 중시적·미시적 접근방법으로서 도시공동체 정신과 물리적 환경을 개선할 수 있는 셉테드전략을 체계적으로 운용해야할 것이다.

다국어 초록 (Multilingual Abstract)

The formation of the territoriality of defensible space is a every efforts to control environments related to the crimes. Human have a instinct of defense inherently, therefore, try to secure proper the defensible spaces. And the defensible space formed by ‘the territoriality’ directly. Therefore, how to secure, and how to form the defensible space is very important to prevent crime and control it. Related to the territoriality of defensible space, it is the primary important places are the residential places. The residential places are the places which are the backbone of our life. But ironically, it is true that the residential places whose the territoriality of defensible space are considered the most strong and important are the most weakness places for crimes. So, it means that we must start to form the defensible space from remodeling of residential places. As is generally known, human’s behaviors are caused through the complex interaction with environments. So, it is very important to understand the human’s stimulations and responses about to the environments in forming the defensible space. Because crime behaviors also come out in the process of perception, cognition, and attitude about to the environments. And the comprehensive and internal environmental elements which affect to the human behaviors are the culture exactly. The culture became the spiritual・physical ground for an individual or a group acting in certain environments. While, human's behaviors are affected by the sensitive environments, that is, colors, lights,sounds(noises), winds, temperature, air pollutions and so on. So, we also must consider these factors. However, the places which many people are live in, that is, the cities have a essential limits to form the defensible spaces. The problems are the city congestions aroused by overcrowding. To solve these problems, we must try to change the 'Space' concepts that are abstract, and heterogeneous into the 'Place' concepts that are concrete, and intimate. For this, as the macroscopic methods, we must search the Sustainable Urban Development which pursuit the interpersonal social values. And as the middle and microscopic methods, we must operate CPTED systematically which can improve the community spirits of the city and physical environments.
