This study studied the preference for cremation images in funeral photos targeting the elderly group. The research method was a face-to-face survey targeting seniors aged 65 or older in Geumsan-gun, and the final 48 pieces of data were analyzed. The results of the study were derived as gentleness and extroversion factors through factor analysis of preference for general makeup images, and dignity and attractiveness factors through factor analysis of preference for makeup images for funeral photos. In terms of gender differences according to preference for general makeup images, significant differences were found in ‘gentleness’ and ‘extroversion’, with the ‘extroversion’ factor showing the highest level. The gentleness factor was found to be higher in women than in men, and the extroversion factor was found to be relatively higher in women than in men. In terms of gender differences according to the preference for portrait makeup images, significant differences were found in 'dignity' and 'attractiveness', and the 'dignity' factor was the highest. The dignity factor was relatively higher for women than men, and the attractiveness factor was higher for women than men. The sample size by age was somewhat insufficient, and selecting image adjectives for the elderly group was somewhat difficult. In the future, we would like to propose a follow-up study on the preference for portrait photo images, including the distribution of elderly groups by region and the number of samples by age. It is also intended to help understand the cremation behavior of the elderly and the cremation images in funeral photos.
