Purpose This study suggests preemptively human resource management and development strategies based on the type of job perception of platform workers to form an organic relationship between platform companies and workers.
Methods We conducted latent profile analysis to scrutinize the types of platform workers' job perceptions using 1,970 employees’ data from the Korean Labor and Income Panel Study (KLIPS).
Results We derived three profiles: passive platform workers, subsistence platform workers, and proactive platform workers. Among the predictor variables, the satisfaction related to family and life, and leisure activities were significant. And outcome variables were significant differences between the three profiles.
Conclusion We discussed platform workers facing occupational, social, and institutional issues and emphasized the necessity of customized HRM practices and systems.
