EXCEEDINGLY satisfactory has been the progress of the winter campaign thus far, and there seems every reasonable prospect that the open weather will continue throughout the present month, in which case we shall enter on the New Year without having had any vexatious postponements. Thus far the sport between the flags has been prolific enough, so far as the numerical strength of the fields goes, but it cannot he said that the racing, whether over fences or hurdles, has soared beyond the medium level.
