[연구 논문] 문명의 대전환과 대학교육 개혁 = The Radical Transformation of World Civilization and the Reformation of the University

국문 초록 (Abstract)

이 논문은 급변하는 문명의 전환기를 맞아 대학을 어떻게 개혁해야 할 것인가를 연구한 것이다. 세계적 문명전환의 특징은 지구화, 정보화, 문화화로 나타난다. 이것은 지난 400년간의 서구 근대주의와 산업사회를 넘어서는, 인류가 지금까지 경험해 보지 못한 새로운 문명이다. 지구화는 첫째로, 지금까지 서구의 시각으로만 세계를 인식하던 서구 식민주의적 사고를 넘어서서 세계, 특히 3/4세계를 그들의 입장에서 인식하고 이해하게 하였다. 이런 새로운 세계 인식은 정보통신과 교통의 혁명적 발달로 급속도로 확산되고 있다. 둘째로, 지구화는 세계를 하나의 시장체제로 만들어 국경의 의미를 사라지게 하였다. 이에 따라 이제는 국내적 경쟁은 무의미하고 세계적으로 무한 경쟁하며 살지 않으면 안 되게 되었다. 이 결과 지구마을이 지구약탈지로 바뀌고, 부익부 빈익빈이 국내 국제적으로 더욱 심화되고 있다. 정보화는 첫째로, 자본, 자원, 노동 등 무질적인 것이 모든 힘의 근원이던 산업사회를 넘어 인간의 창의성과 지식정보가 힘의 원천이 되는 인간 중심의 시대를 열었다. 둘째로, 정보화는 인터넷과 멀티미디어를 통해 언제 어디서나 학습하고 일하고 생활하는 4차원의 유비쿼터스 사회를 형성하였다. 유비쿼터스 사회는 접속과 네트워크가 생명이다. 따라서 이제는 소유보다 이용이 중요하게 되었다. 문화화는 첫째로, 인류로 하여금 서구 근대주의 기계론적 세계관을 넘어 생물적 세계관으로 살지 않으면 안 되게 했다. 눈에 보이는 물질만이 실재가 아니라 보이지 않는 영적 세계도 실재라는 인식을 하게 되었다. 둘째로, 문화화는 사람과 자연의 본래적 가치를 회복시켜 주고 있다. 정복과 소유의 대상이 아니라 생명의 유기체로서 사랑과 평화의 관계로 사는 새로운 문화를 형성하게 하였다. 이런 운명의 전환에 따라 대학은 다음과 같이 개혁되어야 한다. 첫째, 근대주의 기계론적 세계관의 학문 답습과 연구를 넘어서서 생물학적 세계관으로 세계를 새롭게 탐구해야 한다. 또한 서구 중심의 세계 인식에서 3/4 세계를 그들의 입장에서 인식하는 새로운 세계 인식을 해야 한다. 이것은 서구 식민주의 학문성을 극복하는 것을 의미한다. 둘째, 대학은 국제경쟁력을 가져야 한다. 동시에 새로운 지구약탈지를 지구 마을로 만들어 가는 연구와 교육을 해야 한다. 사랑과 평화의 새로운 문화를 만들어 가야 한다

다국어 초록 (Multilingual Abstract)

The purpose of this essay is to articulate how to reform the colleges and the universities in the age of the radical transformation of world civilization. The characteristics of the radical transformation of world civilization are globalization, information technology, and culturalization. This is a totally new civilization that the humankind has never experienced before, that leads the humankind to a new territory beyond 400 years' western modernism and industrial society in the past. Globalization, in the first place, enables the third/fourth world people to recognize and to understand the world and, especially, their life from the perspective of their own overcoming the western colonialistic view point which has forced them to perceive the world and their situation from the western perspective. This new trend is spreading rapidly throughout the world owing to the revolutionary advancement of the means of the transportation and the communication through the information technology. Secondly, globalization makes the borderlines between nations and countries meaningless by making the whole world one single market place. This situation, thus, expands the horizon of competition from domestic to worldwide forcing us to live under unlimited one. This unlimited competition in a worldwide scale is transforming the global village into the worldwide web of exploitation, deepening the vicious cycle of making the poor poorer in both domestic and international theater. Information technology, first, is now opening the new world in which the creativity and the informational knowledge of the human race are the sources of the power, making the industrial society, in which the material foundation such as capital. natural resources, and labor is the fundamental resource of the power, obsolete.
