Electrospinning is a fabrication process that uses an electric field to control the deposition of polymer fibers onto a collector. This electrostatic processing strategy can be used to fabricate fibrous polymer mats composed of fiber diameters ranging from several microns down to 100 ㎚ or less. In this study, optimized conditions to produce nanofilters using Nylon 6 are investigated and performances are evaluated. The filtration efficiency of Nylon 6 nanofilters is 99.993% superior to the commercialized HEPA filter at the face velocity of 5 ㎝/s using 0.3 ㎛ test particles. Even though the high pressure drops across the nanofilters, they show the potential to have the application of HEPA and ULPA grade high efficiency filters.
