There were 6,143 make-up artists according to the research from Korea Employment Information Service in the Ministry of Labor in 2005. According to the data at the end of 2006, about 12,000 people worked at a beauty shop, about 12,000 people at a wedding agency, about 6,000 people at a cosmetic company and about 1,300 people at an educational institution, and about 6,000 make-up artists worked freelance.
