비주얼 아티스트 장 폴 구드의 패션 융합작품에 반영된 특성 분석

국문 초록 (Abstract)

본 연구는 타 장르 예술가가 패션의 새로운 이미지 창조를 모색하는 경향에 주목하며 시작되었다. 본 연구의 목적은 비주얼 아티스트 장 폴 구드의 패션 융합 활동을 고찰하고 특성을 파악하는 것이다. 이를 위해 구드의 이력과 작품 세계를 문헌 고찰하였고, 샤넬, 겐조, 라코스테, 데시구알에서 전개한 패션 활동을 대상으로 사례 연구를 진행하였다.
연구 결과 및 내용은 다음과 같다. 각 브랜드와 작업한 활동 유형은 차이를 보이지만 광고 캠페인, 패션쇼 연출, 패션 디자인, 협업 제품 출시 등을 통해 차별화된 이미지를 제시함으로써 크로스 장르 아티스트의 면모를 확인하도록 하였다. 장 폴 구드의 패션 융합작품 특성은 첫째, 경계 초월의 독창적 이미지 창조이다. 문화적인 경계나 이미지 표현의 정형화 탈피는 물론 디자인부터 쇼 연출에 이르기까지 모든 패션 영역을 아우르며 자신의 예술적 미학을 확장하였다. 둘째, 초현실적 판타지와 유머 반영이다. 영감의 원천인 춤과 이국적인 것에 대한 동경을 패션으로 전환하여 유쾌한 패션 판타지로 표현하였다. 셋째, 상업성과 예술성 조화에 의한 브랜딩 극대화이다. 패션 브랜드 각각의 개성과 스토리에 대한 폭넓은 이해, 자신의 예술적 미학을 융합하여 브랜드 이미지를 재창조하였다.
이러한 연구 결과를 바탕으로 앞으로도 패션과 타영역의 융합 시도가 활발하게 진행되어 차별화된 이미지 혁신과 창의성 구현이 모색되기를 기대한다.

다국어 초록 (Multilingual Abstract)

This study begins with attention to tendency for other genre artist to create a new image in fashion. The purpose of the study is to examine visual artist Jean Paul Goude’s converged activity and characteristics in it. To do this, literature is reviewed about Goude’s fashion career and works and case study is taken about his fashion activities in Chanel, Kenzo, Lacoste and Desigual.
Study results and contents are as below. Activity types differ in cooperated work with each brand but his own differentiated image can be suggested by commercial advertising campaign, presentation of fashion show, fashion design, and publication of collaborated works, and through which all about a cross-genre artist appear. Convergence works with fashion of Jean Paul Goude are featured in the following. First, there is an original generation of image beyond the boundary. Not to mention the escape from cultural border and standardized expression of image, they expand aestheticism further, touching all from design to presentation of show. Second, there exists a reflection on surrealistic fantasy and humor. He describes a playful fashion fantasy by converting the dance, an inspiration source, and the exotic longing into fashion. Third, there is a maximized branding through harmony of commercialization and artfulness. His works contain the wide understanding about each fashion brand’s individuality and story and regenerate a brand image by converging his aesthetic aspects.
Based on the results, it is expected that convergence of fashion with other realms would progress actively for realization of differentiated image innovation and originality.
