Yun Dong-Ju(尹東柱, 1917~1945) was born in 1917 and brought up in North Kando, Manchuria. While attending Yeonhui Technical School from 1938~41, Yun lived in the house of novelist Kim Song in Nusang-dong, Jongno District, central Seoul, with Jeong Byeong-wook. Jeong Byeong-wook was Yun``s roommate. Jeong Byeong- Wook played a decisive role in introducing Yun``s poetry to the world. Poet Yun Dong Ju was arrested by Japanese police and was prosecuted for resistance against Japanese imperialism. He died after prolonged harsh treatment. in February 1945. Before going to Japan, Yun attempted to publish a collection of poetry titled ≪Sky, Wind, Stars and Poetry≫ in 1941, but he could not due to Japanese oppression and left for study, giving his work to Mr. Jeong. The work by Yun which was kept in secret was published in a collection ofpoetry by Jeong in 1948. If they had not been kept in Jeong``s house, they might have disappeared. A precious collection of poetry has been kept intact based on their friendship. Jeong``s house has great meaning to the history of literature.
