645년 고구려-당 전쟁 당시 당의 水軍 운용 및 전략 = Military operation and strategy of Tang’s naval forces during the Goguryeo-Tang War in 645

국문 초록 (Abstract)

본고는 그동안 주목받지 못했던 평양도행군을 중심으로 645년 고구려-당 전쟁을 바라보았다. 우선 평양도행군의 편성 목적과 진격 루트 등을 살펴본 뒤에 이들을 활용한 당 태종의 전략은 무엇이고, 이에 대해서 고구려는 어떠한 동향을 보였는지 그리고 평양도행군은 왜 건안성을 공격하였는지 검토하였다.
당 태종은 수륙병진책으로 평양도행군을 활용하였다. 이들의 목적은 해로를 통해서 평양을 공격하고 요동에 군량을 보급하는 역할을 맡고 있었다. 평양도행군의 규모에 대해서는 전투병과 선원 등을 포함해서 전체인원이 7만이고, 전체 가운데 전투 병력은 4만 3,000명인 것으로 파악하였다. 평양도행군의 군사적 활동에 대해서는 비사성 점령 이후 전개된 압록강 방면의 군사적 행동과 독산진 전투에 대해서 살펴보았다. 평양도행군이 압록강에서 군사적 행동을 취한 것은 당시 신라군과 연계 작전을 통해 고구려군의 전력을 분산시키고자한 목적이 있었다. 한편 독산진 전투는 오늘날 普蘭店 大孤山에 이루어진 것으로 보았는데, 이때 魏覇山城의고구려군이 활약한 것으로 파악하였다.
당 태종은 전쟁 직전에 백제와 신라도 전쟁에 참여시켜 3면에서 고구려를 압박하는 공세 전략을 취하였으나, 백제의 이중적인 태도에 의해 신라군이 고구려에서 철수하게 되었고 당 태종의 전략은 차질을 빚게 되었다. 신라군의 이탈로 인해 평양도행군은 어쩔 수 없이 당 육군의 진격 속도에 맞춰 비사성에 머물러야 했다.
고구려는 이런 상황을 노려 15만 대군을 동원하여 당군의 본진을 노렸으나, 주필산 전투에서 좌절되었다.
이후 안시성에서 발목을 잡힌 당 태종은 장기전을 타개하기 위해 평양도행군을 이용하여 건안성 공격을 시도하였지만, 결과적으로 당군은 안시성과 건안성을 모두 넘지 못하고 철수하게 되었다. 고구려에서 철수한평양도행군은 바다에서 해상사고를 당하게 되었고, 본국에서는 수 양제의 전철을 밟은 당 태종의 처벌이 기다리고 있었다.

다국어 초록 (Multilingual Abstract)

This article research the Goguryeo-Tang War in 645, focusing on Pingrangdaohengjun(平壤道行軍), which has not received much attention until now.
First, the purpose of Pingrangdaohengjun’s formation and the route of advance were reviewed. Afterwards, Emperor Taizong of Tang’s strategy using these, Goguryeo’s response to it, and Pingrangdaohengjun’s purpose of attacking Geonan City(建安城) were reviewed.
Emperor Taizong of Tang is using Pingrangdaohengjun as an amphibious strategy. The purpose of Pingrangdaohengju was to attack Pyongyang by sea, but one of the objectives was to supply military supplies to Liaotung across the sea.
The size of Pingrangdaohengjun is estimated to be 70,000 people, including combat soldiers and sailors, and 43,000 pure combat troops.
Pingrangdaohengjun’s military activities included military actions in the Amnokgang and the Battle of Camp of Doksan(獨山陣), which took place after the occupation of Bisa City(卑沙城), and these were studied.
The purpose of Pingrangdaohengjun’s military action in Amnokgang was to disperse the military strength of Goguryeo armed forces through a coordinated operations with Shilla armed forces at the time.
Meanwhile, the Battle of Camp of Doksan(獨山陣) is believed to have taken place in today’s Pulandian da gushan, and it is presumed that Goguryeo armed forces from Weiba Mountain Fortress(魏覇山城) were active at this time.
Just before the war, Emperor Taizong of Tang adopted an offensive strategy to pressure Goguryeo from three sides by involving Baekje and Silla in the war, but Baekje’s dual attitude forced Shilla armed forces to withdraw from Goguryeo, and Emperor Taizong of Tang’s The strategy suffered a setback.
Pingrangdaohengjun, which was conducting a coordinated operations with Shilla armed forces, had no choice but to stay in Bisa City to match the advance speed of Tang’s ground forces.
Goguryeo took advantage of this situation and mobilized 150,000 troops to target the main base of Tang armed forces, but the battle of Mt.Jupil was frustrated.
Afterwards, Emperor Taizong of Tang, who was caught in Ansi City(安市城), attempted to attack Geonan City using Pingrangdaohengjun to break the protracted war, but as a result, Tang armed forces withdrew without being able to overcome both Ansi City and Geonan City.
Pingrangdaohengjun, which withdrew from Goguryeo, suffered a maritime accident at sea, and the punishment of Emperor Taizong of Tang, who followed in the footsteps of Emperor Yang of Sui, was awaited at his own country.
