It has been a century since the automobiles came into the world. Meanwhile the automobile industry has developed rapidly. With the rapid development of economy, the types of automobile have increased and the class of quality is getting higher than before in the modern society. The special differentiated strategies have been developed among world brand products. The sales volume of Chinese automobile in 2006 was more than 7 millions, which makes China the third biggest car-producing country and exceeded Germany. It shows that China’s economy has been developing constantly and that China is getting globalized gradually. However, China must have its own characteristics in the big international stage. There must be some Chinese style factors in the design of automobiles too. In the design of automobile, the pursuit of good form design can meet consumers’ demand for the price of the products and the cultural spirits. In addition, we can make sure that special Chinese characteristics have been applied in the automobile design. The Chinese characteristics have crucial meanings in the development of automobile industry. This paper is divided into three parts: the history of the Chinese automobile industry, the understanding of Chinese culture, the marketing research of brand of the main automobile design. Based on all these, the study on the direction of Chinese automobile designed will be carried on. First of all, with the understanding of the history of Chinese automobile industry, the current situation of Chinese automobile market will be studied.
Secondly, the relationship with the Chinese traditional culture will be figured out.
Thirdly, the automobile companies in Europe, USA, Japan, Korea and China will be compared and analyzed. Fourthly, the current status of Chinese automobile design and the problems of the Chinese automobile industry will be investigated. With the analysis the development directions of Chinese automobile design in the form and color will be integrated. The Chinese factors are of great significance in the development of Chinese automobile industry. The Chinese automobile industry should have Chinese factors in the design and technique aspects so that it can has its own vitality and brand and can receive much recognition in the global automobile market.
