The purpose of this study is to test the validity of the Spirituality Quotient (SQ), developed by Kwon Tack-Joe, using the Spirituality Development Scale (SDS). The SDS is designed to disclose people's ranking according to a Spirituality Quotient.
The SDS consists of forty items divided into subscales, the Relationship with God Scale (RG) and the Relationship with People Scale (RP). Each sub scale has twenty items.
After a pilot study, the final set of items was administered to 280 college students attending universities and churches in Korea.
Exploratory and confirmatory factor analyses show that the SDS has two clearly demarked subscales, and each of the RG and RP, comprise twenty items respectively.
Convergent and discriminant validity are confirmed. The Cronbach α coefficients for internal consistency of the SDS, RG, and RP are high enough, that is .9155, .8749, and .9377, respectively.
Item analyses with the graded response model ware conducted, with results showing that, the forty items have appropriate item discrimination indexes which are adequate in terms of item rating categories.
