천주교 교리서 『회죄직지』에 나타난 한글 표기의 기준과 그 영향 = The standard and its influence of the Korean spelling system in Hoejoejikji(회죄직지)

다국어 초록 (Multilingual Abstract)

This article attempts to present the Native Korean and the Shino-Korean based on the manuscript, block book, and printed book Hoejoejikji(회죄직지). In particular, this study focused on the spelling system of the letter “ᆞ” and palatal sound, which each person expressed arbitrarily in the discord and confusion between the spelling and actual pronunciation. In the block book prints of Hoejoejikji(회죄직지)(1864), the proper spelling is consistent with the historical spelling. The Shino-Korean consonant spelling uses the Shino-Korean consonants suggested in the Jeonunokpyeon(전운옥편) rather than the actual pronunciation with palatalization. In two types of Hoejoejikji(회죄직지)(1882,1900) in the printed book, the proper spelling for “차자, 가음” was modified to the historical inscription “자, 음” in the block book, “침노, 범남, 념녀” liquidated Shino-Korean, which are more closely related to the pronunciation of reality, are all corrected in the printed book by rotating the Shino-Korean of “침로, 범람, 념려”. In the printed book of the Hoejoejikji(회죄직지), the written version of the Native Korean and the Shino-Korean were inherited as they were in the block book, and the standard was applied strictly. In three types of the Hoejoejikji(회죄직지) manuscript, standard spelling were used in the writing of Shino-Korean and Native Korean. Each manuscript has a slightly different form of writing in accordance with the standards stated. Manuscript A appears to be almost identical to that of a block book or a printed book. Although Manuscript B has many typographical errors and factual pronunciations, it was written in the form of the letter “ᆞ” and “palatal” related expressions in consideration of the standard of expression. Manuscript C shows a spelling state that is closer to the spelling standard than Manuscript B. Through spelling state of manuscript, it can be inferred that the standard of spelling acted as the reference framework in man writing a manuscript. In the early Roman Catholic Church, there was a thought that “a unified spelling system was needed for the preaching of the doctrine and the teaching of members.” Therefore, it was confirmed that the criteria for writing were set and the book was published accordingly, and that the standard for writing had even affected the manuscript.
