최근 혁신적인 아이디어와 기술을 기반으로 하는 창업이 활성화되고 있지만, 시장 경쟁력의 확보나 경영성과 창출에 많은 어려움을 겪고 있다. 기술혁신을 추구하는 기업의 특성과 제도경제적 환경은 생산성의 차이를 유발하는 요인으로 작용할 수 있다. 그러나 정량적인 데이터 수집이 어려운 창업 초기에 경영성과에 영향을 미치는 다양한 요인을 실증적으로 분석하는 지역 단위의 연구는 부족한 상황이다. 이에 본 연구에서는 초기 기술창업기업의 시장지향성, 기술지향성, 최고경영자역량이 기업의 경영성과에 미치는 영향을 비교·분석하는 것을 목적으로 한다. 부산지역 소재 초기 기술창업 기업에 대한 분석 결과, 기업의 시장지향성 하위요인 중 경쟁자지향성과 협력지향성, 기술지향성 하위요인 중 연구개발역량, 최고경영자역량 하위요인 중 해외업무/교육경험이 경영성과에 유의한 영향을 미치는 것으로 나타났다. 본 연구는 제도경제학과 기업 생태계의 관점에서 초기 기술창업기업이 앞으로 지향해야 할 방향과 최고경영자의 역할에 대해 유용한 시사점을 제공할 수 있을 것이다.

다국어 초록 (Multilingual Abstract)

Although startups based on innovative ideas and technologies have been revitalized, there are many difficulties in securing market competitiveness or creating business performance. The entrepreneurship and institutional economic environment can cause differences in productivity. However, there is a lack of studies at the regional level that empirically analyzes various factors affecting business performance in the early stage of startups, where it is difficult to collect quantitative data. Therefore, the purpose of this study is to analyze and compare the effects of market orientation, technology orientation, and CEO competency of early technology based startups on their business performance. As a result of the analysis on early technology based startups in Busan, competitor orientation and cooperation orientation among the sub-factors of market orientation, R&D capability among the sub-factors of technology orientation, and overseas work/education experience among the sub-factors of CEO competency have significant and positive effect on business performance. This study could provide useful information for the future strategies of early technology based startups and the role of CEOs, from the perspective of institutional economics and business ecosystem.
