      다국어 초록 (Multilingual Abstract)

      Our public libraries manage cultural activities and reading activities as social facilities. Among these activities, reading activities are managed in many public libraries as a way of life-long education.
      This study has investigated reading education program mostly on reading classroom and reading circles. Reading education program done by the libraries in the country is not as well activated as those in the big cities.
      This study has suggested the remedy for effective reading program management by looking over the faced problems and analysis them.
      I used the question-paper method. Among 24 public libraries in Chung-nam, I distributed the question papers to 21. The subjects of this investigation are restricted to the men whoparticipated in the reading classroom, and librarians.
      The followings are improved methods of reading education program analysis through the above progress.
      1. The members of reading circles should consist of the men or women who have similar level of reading abilities and experiences, and we should teach reading methods to the students who are lack of reading abilities. By doing that we are able to fulfill the aims we are to reach.
      2. We need a place to manage reading education program. But we temporarily use the reading room in most libraries, there are many difficulties. So we should make the rooms like seminar rooms, in order to do reading activities.
      3. The financial aids should be supported. For in reading activities we have many difficylties in choosing teachers and managing various programs, if we are lack of them.
      4. To manage the reading circles and reading classroom effectively, we should wxplore the systematic and standard programs.
      5. There are many duties for chief librarians, so their activities are easily inclined to be the formal ones. Therefore to tea and manage the reading education program, there should be consulting librarians and in order to improve their abilities we should have research training for them.
