4차 산업혁명시대, 왜 윤리인가? = Why Ethics Matters in The Era of Fourth Industrial Revolution?

다국어 초록 (Multilingual Abstract)

The Fourth Industrial Revolution is now foretelling fundamental changes in human life, and is emerging as an urgent human task on the ethical issues that the Fourth Industrial Revolution’s technologies will bring about. Therefore, the content and purpose of this paper is to diagnose and prepare for potential ethical problems in the Fourth Industrial Revolution. In this paper, as a method of this study, I will examine the characteristics of the Fourth Industrial Revolution’s technology (Chapter 2) and diagnose ethical issues that may threaten humanity (Chapter 3). In conclusion, if we do not diagnose and prepare for the ethical problems that can be caused by the dysfunction and side effects of the Fourth Industrial Revolution, humanity can face the ‘ontological risk’ of human existence, as Nick Bostrom warned.

국문 초록 (Abstract)

4차 산업혁명은 이제 인간 삶의 근본적인 변화를 예고하고 있으며, 이로 인해 초래될 윤리적 문제들에 대한 검토는 시급한 인류의 과제로 대두되고 있다. 따라서 이 논문의 연구내용과 목적은 4차 산업혁명의 잠재적인 윤리적 문제들을 진단하고 그에 대비하고자 하는 것이다. 이를 위해 필자는 연구의 방법으로 4차 산업혁명의 기술들이 기존의 기술혁명과 어떻게 다른지를 분석하고(2장), 이 기술들로 인해 인류에게 위협이 될 수 있는 잠재적인 윤리적 문제들을 진단(3장)할 것이다. 그리고 결론부에서 4차 산업혁명의 역기능과 부작용이 야기할 수 있은 윤리적 문제들을 미리 예상하고 대비하지 못한다면 인류는 닉 보스트롬이 경고한 인간 실존의 ‘존재론적 위험’에 직면할 수 있음을 보이고, 그 세부적인 방안에 관한 사회적 합의가 중요함을 주장하며 논의를 마무리할 것이다.
