This report, developing the high durability concrete with high quality and performance and applying this to a practical use, has an important purpose to prevent poor construction and to improve the safety and durability of the concrete structures. Therefore for the improvement of durability of concrete structures, the appropriate mixture designs with mineral admixtures(fly-ash, silica-fume, blast furnace slag) have been selected and applied to various experimental studies. Two kinds of strength such as high & normal strength concretes have been considered in the present study. Freezing and thawing test, steel corrosion test, sulphate attack test and permeability test were performed and the characteristics for each mix design have been analyzed to develop greatly enhanced durability concrete. In addition, field tests were produced at Tangjin power plant, Eiwang lCD, Kayang sewage treatment and Kiheung Site and the applicability for the field test was investigated, and then these results were compared with those of laboratory tests. Several specimens were also buried in particular places with poor environment to find out durability characteristics of high durability concrete and the relationships with accelerated test in laboratory by observing the degree of deteriorations of concrete throughout the second period of the study. With the analysis of above test results optimized mix designs are able to be derived. In the second period, it is possible to suggest high performance' concrete with high durability through the application to real structures and field tests. The second year study is focused on the practical applicability of high durable concrete in actual field structures. The final product of this study allow very high quality and also safe construction of concrete structures in this country and will promote the competition of our construction capability in the world.
