기획논문 : 경상우도 노사학단(蘆沙學團) 조성가(趙性家),최숙민(崔琡民)을 중심으로 ; 월고(月皐) 조성가(趙性家)의 시인적 면모에 대하여 = A study on Cho Seong-ga`s appearance as a poet

국문 초록 (Abstract)

본고는 19세기 진주 지역에서 활동하였던 月皐 趙性家의 시문학에 대해 연구하였다. 조성가는 19세기의 대표적 도학자인 蘆沙 奇正鎭의 수제자였다. 조성가는 기정진을 만나 도학에 뜻을 세우게 되면서 문장학에 대해서는 마음을 접었지만, 시를 사랑하는 그의 속마음을 없앨 수는 없었다. 조성가는 도학과 문장학 사이에서 끊임없이 고민하면서도 지속적으로 주목할만한 시문학을 산출하였다. 조성가의 문학적 성취 가운데, 본고에서는 `만시`와 `지리산 노래들`이 가장 중요한 성과라고 보았다. 조성가는 만시를 지으며 자신의 시인적 역량을 한껏 발휘하고자 의식적으로 노력하기도 하였으며, 또 주위의 인물들에 대해 연속적으로 만시를 창작하였기에 그의 만시들은 그를 둘러싼 인물들에 대한 작은 역사와도 같은 역할을 하고 있다. 조성가의 지리산 노래들에는 지리산의 맑은 자연과 순박한 풍속이 인상적으로 형상화되어 있다. 조성가는 자신이 살고 있는 지리산에 대해 무한한 애정과 자부심을 지니고 있었으며 또한 지리산 일대에 유학의 도가 이상적으로 구현되어 있다고 보았다. 이러한 점은 당시 서세동점의 현실과 대비되어 그에게 더욱 소중하게 여겨질 수 있었다.

다국어 초록 (Multilingual Abstract)

In this paper, I talked about poems of Wolgo, Cho Seong-ga who lived in Jin-ju, Korea in the 19th century. He was best pupil of Gi Jeong-jin who was a representative scholar of the 19th century. After meeting Gi Jeong-jin, Cho Seong-ga set an aim in moral philosophy and gave up the study of rhetoric. But he could not abandon his passion for poetry. Although he had a conflict between moral philosophy and rhetoric constantly, he wrote remarkable poems continuously. Among his literary accomplishment, I paid attention to epicedium and Jirisan poems especially. Writing epicedium, he consciously tried to show his all capabilities as a poet. He continuously wrote epicedium for his acquaintance, so his epicedium can be regarded as a little history of people around him. In Jirisan poems, he described clean nature and naive customs of Jirisan impressively. He had boundless love and pride for Jirisan where he lived, and thought that the way of Confucianism was bodied out there. Under the situation that western culture spread over the Orient, he cherished culture of Confucianism around Jirisan all the more.
