중학교 수학에서 도입된 용어 및 기호에 관한 고찰 = A Note on the Terms and Notations Introduced in Middle School Mathematics

다국어 초록 (Multilingual Abstract)

To understand terms and symbols correctly which is the basic factor of learning mathematics is important for understanding and utilizing related mathematic contents.
Since the definition of terms and symbols is the important starting point of learning mathematics, it has been studied a lot since the ancient times.
This study investigates the transition of terms and symbols which was presented in our curriculum after Korea's independence and it also investigates terms and symbols which are used for the current middle school text books.
As a result of studying the transition of the terms, more detailed and broader analysis should be done for the explanation, modification, deletion, and creation of the terms. And complements are needed for some of the terms and symbols
Also, some definition of the terms which are used in some of the current middle school text books should be explained in a way that is suitable for the students' capability. And some errors and omissions of the terms need to be corrected.
Furthermore, we need to compare our definition of terms with that of the other countries and modify them if it is necessary. Also, It is better to put guidelines about the interpretation of terms and symbols in the curriculum to reduce the confusion which can be produced by the variety of explanation of the definition of terms and symbols.

국문 초록 (Abstract)

수학 학습에서 가장 기본적인 것 중의 하나인 용어와 기호의 뜻을 올바르게 잘 이해하는 것은 그에 연관된 학습 내용의 이해와 활용에 매우 중요하다. 곧 용어와 기호의 정의는 수학 학습을 해나가는데 중요한 시발점이 되는 것이므로 고대로부터 그에 대하여는 많은 연구가 있어 왔다. 본 연구에서는 해방 이후 우리나라의 교육과정에 제시된 용어와 기호의 변천 상황과 현행 중학교 교과서에서 사용하고 있는 용어와 기호들에 대하여 조사 분석하였는데, 변천 상황을 조사 분석한 결과는 용어의 표현 변경, 삭제, 생성에 대하여 앞으로도 보다 심도 있는 연구가 계속되어야 하겠고, 일부 용어와 기호의 보완이 필요함을 알 수 있었다. 또, 현행 중학교 몇몇 교과서에서 사용하고 있는 일부 용어의 정의에 대하여는 가능한 한 학습 내용 수준에 맞는 방법으로 서술하도록 해야 하고, 누락되었거나 올바르지 못한 표현은 보완과 수정을 해야만 함을 알 수 있었다. 그리고 용어의 정의를 외국의 경우와 비교해 필요한 경우에는 조정을 하고. 용어와 기호 정의의 서술 표현에 따른 차이에서 오는 혼란을 줄이기 위해서 용어와 기호의 해설에 대한 지침을 교육과정에 게시하는 것이 바람직할 것이다.
