Look into the Western Art History, French fine arts of the half of 19th century, Raphael has been studied in the Classicism, that is in a view of a pattern of Academic Art and Romanticism is, after Manierism, commented chiefly in relation to Baroque Art.
In this paper, the writer will illuminate Classicism and Romanticism in relation to Renaissance fine arts which has been a point of contention in the first half of 19th century, in Raphael-Reception, that is, through contrast and analysis the influence of Raphael to Ingres and Delacroix, will study the relationship between Romanticism and Renaissance Art which has been overlooked till now in Western Art History.
View about Classicism and Romanticism has been till now immoderately bisect distinguished socially and systematically rather than a point of view or art that these two trends of thought had been carried too far as divided conception such as Academic School and Anti-Academic School. So we cannot deny the fact that a standpoint to see these two trends is somewhat distorted.
As presented in this paper, observed the picturesque aspect of these two painters, can be analogized as coexistence or compatibility rather than opposition.
In Ingres, the coexistence of the Heaven and the Ground(Ideal and Reality) in the same space and Delacroix accepts the line and colour as the conception or compatibility not as the confrontation together the aspect of
contents of the coexistence of sensibility and rationality.
So the writer will suggest the new sense of view under a point of the Raphael-Reception, Classicism and Romanticism, in studying these two trends of Western Art History not as the conception of opposition but as of compatibility through analysis of works of Ingres and Delacroix representing these two trends.
