여성영웅소설 교육 방안 연구 - <방한림전>을 중심으로 - = A Study on the Educational Methods of Female Heroic Novels - Focusing on BanghallymJeon

국문 초록 (Abstract)

이 연구는 여성영웅소설의 교육과정 시기별 교과서 수록 양상을 검토하고, <방한림전>을 중심으로 여성영웅소설의 교육 방안을 제시하는 데 목적이 있다. 여성영웅소설은 젠더의식 함양과 다양성 수용 등과 관련된 교육적 가치가 있다. 특히 <방한림전>은 여성영웅소설의 대표적인 작품으로서, 이와 같은 교육적 가치를 잘 구현할 수 있는 작품이라고 할 수 있다. 이를 토대로 현행 교육방향을 함께 고려하여 효과적인 여성영웅소설 교육 방안을 고안하고자 하였다.
여성영웅소설의 교육 흐름 및 현황을 확인하기 위해 여성영웅소설이 처음 교과서에 수록되기 시작한 제7차 교육과정기부터 2015 개정 교육과정기까지의 국어과 교과서를 살펴보았다. 이를 바탕으로 현행 여성영웅소설 교육이 갖는 몇 가지 방향성과 개선되어야 할 지점을 제시하였다. 첫째, 한국 문학의 특질로서 ‘영웅의 일대기 구조’의 교육은 문학사적 지식의 측면이 아닌 서사적 연속성의 관점에서 이루어져야 한다는 점을 언급하였다. 둘째, 수록 제재의 다양화라는 추세를 반영하여 다양한 제재의 교육이 필요하다는 점을 제안하였다. 셋째, 학습 활동이 작품을 통해 얻은 지식, 기능, 태도를 학습자의 실제 삶에 적용할 수 있는 과정으로 구성되어야 한다는 점을 지적하였다.
<방한림전>의 교육적 의미는 크게 두 측면에서 규정된다. 먼저 장르관습의 측면에서 <방한림전>은 여성영웅서사의 탈피 양상을 띤 개성적인 텍스트로서, 학습자의 흥미와 긍정적 인식을 유도하고 창작 맥락에 대한 이해를 높일 수 있다. 한편, 주제 측면에서 <방한림전>은 다양한 삶의 형태를 내포하고 있어 젠더와 소수적 삶에 대한 올바른 인식을 갖도록 한다는 점에서 사회적 효용을 지닌 작품으로 학습자의 비판적·창의적 사고 유발을 돕는다.
다만 <방한림전>은 장르관습에서 탈피한 변모형으로, 본 연구에서는 여성영웅소설에 대한 온전한 이해를 위해 <홍계월전>과 <방한림전>을 함께 활용하는 방향으로 학습 과정을 설계하였다. 교수·학습과정은 도입, 이해, 적용, 심화의 네 단계로, ‘작품 감상 → 작품의 서사구조 비교 → 작품의 주제의식 비교 → 토론’활동을 구성하였다. 이를 통해 학습자가 고전에 흥미를 느끼고, 고전을 통해 다양한 가치를 학습하여 실제 사회에서 접하게 될 다양한 문제 상황에 유연하게 대처할 수 있는 태도를 함양할 수 있기를 기대한다.

다국어 초록 (Multilingual Abstract)

The purpose of this study is to present educational methods of female heroic novels focusing on BanghallymJeon. In general, female heroic novels have an educational value related to developing gender consciousness and accepting diversity. In that sense, BanghallymJeon is a representative work of female heroic novels. Therefore, this study designs the teaching-learning process of female heroic novels focusing on BanghallymJeon.
Before mapping out the curriculum, we survey the tendency of female heroic novels education through middle and high school Korean textbooks from the 7th curriculum, in which female heroic novels were first included in textbooks, to the latest textbooks revised in 2015. First, the biographic narrative structure of hero, a characteristic of Korean literature, needs to be educated from the perspective of narrative continuity rather than knowledge of literary history. Second, the education of various literary works is necessary to reflect the diversification of contents in textbooks. Third, this paper point out that learning activities are required to be newly composed as a process that can apply the knowledge, skills, and attitudes acquired through the text to the real world.
The educational meaning of BanghallymJeon is newly described in two aspects. First, in terms of genre conventions, BanghallymJeon is defined as a unique text since it is a break from the traditional female heroic narratives. Second, in the aspects of the theme, it is explained as a story with a social utility because students can learn the proper perspective of various types of gender and minority from the topic of the story.
Especially, BanghallymJeon is a variant form that breaks away from genre conventions, so that learning effect will maximize when an understanding the classical example of female heroic novels is premised. Thus, the learning process was designed to utilize both HonggyewolJeon and BanghallymJeon. The teaching-learning process consists of four stages including introduction, understanding, application, and advancement. As a result, it is expected that students will be interested in classic novels and learn various values through classics to foster attitudes that can flexibly cope with various problem situations in our society.
