In this study, a research was conducted on 163 mothers using the development center in Seoul to investigate on the characteristics of responses to the Mother-and-Child Drawings according to self-esteem and parental role satisfaction of mother with disabled children. The main results are as follows. the result of chi-square test to examine the characteristics of responses to the MCD between the upper and lower self-esteem group of mothers of with disabled children are as follows. Significant differences were verified in the 6 types of common index, the size comparison, eye contact, and physical contact in MCD between the upper and lower self-esteem group of mothers with disabled children. The discriminative power to accurately predict the high self-esteem group and lower self-esteem groups was 94.5%. The result of chi-square test to examine the characteristics of responses to the MCD between the upper and lower parental role satisfaction groups of mothers with disabled children, significant differences were verified in mother figure such as body shape, size, position, and in child figure such as body shape, position, expression, and mother-child figure such as eye contact. The discriminative power to accurately predict the upper and lower parental role satisfaction groups was 51.5%. This study verified the differences in MCD characteristics of responses according to the self-esteem and parental role satisfaction of mothers with disabled children, and confirmed the possibility of using the MCD test as an evaluation tool that can measure them.
