On-chip bus protocols used by most semiconductor design engineer are not suitable for use in network processors because of their limited bandwidth and scalability. So, we adopt the concept of On-Chip network communication and propose an on-chip network architecture that is aimed to interconnect various IPs(Intellectual Properties)of a network processor implemented in the form of SoC. Our major concern in this article is converting IPs to the On-Chip network, whose interface protocol is different from that of IPs, the AMBA AHB is the most popular. So, we choose the AHB as the protocol for IP interfaces and present the design of IP interface for interconnection AHB-compliant IPs to our proposed On-Chip network.
