      다국어 초록 (Multilingual Abstract)

Yughwadae(六花隊) is a Joseon Dynasty royal dance created based on Chinese royal dance. After it was created, it was used at all sorts of royal festivals from the beginning of the Joseon Dynasty. However, since it did not appear for approximately 400 years in royal literature, its transmission aspect cannot be identified accurately. Fortunately, there was a study which discovered that it was reproduced at a royal festival of the Korean Empire in 1901. Until now, the researchers who mentioned transmission and reproduction of Yughwadae were Jang Sa-hoon and Seong Moo-kyung. However, their study results regarding the transmission process are not consistent. Therefore, transmission of Yughwadae, which was conducted during the Joseon Dynasty, has to be reconsidered. Furthermore, unlike both Jang Sa-hoon and Seong Mu-kyung who mentioned Yughwadae as royal dance which was conducted exclusively at royal occasions, when seeing that the records of Yughwadae are being discovered from all sorts of civilian works published by local government offices during the late Joseon Dynasty including ⌜Gyobanggayo⌟, ⌜Gaogoryak⌟, and ⌜Seonghosaseol⌟, it can be assumed that Yughwadae was being transmitted in the early years of the Joseon Dynasty outside of royal palace.
Unlike existing research outcome that Yughwadae had been discontinued for approximately 400 years after being created prior to King Seongjong and reproduced during King Kojong's New Years Royal Festival in 1901, it can be identified that Yughwadae has been a folk culture not only in Seoul and Gwangju, Yangju, and Anseong in Gyeonggi Province but also in Gyeongsang Province. Even if existing studies on discontinuance of Yughwadae was initiated by Jang Sa-hoon and definition of 'jeongjae (royal dance and song)' was limited to annual royal publications, the culture of the early years of the Joseon Dynasty was being spread through active exchanges between royal family and local provinces. In this regard, the discussion on discontinuance and transmission of jeongjae should be done diachronically by comprehensively examining not only royal family but also local cultures.
