경주지방 제조업 경쟁력 제고방안 = (A) study on strengthening the competitiveness of manufacturing industries in Kyongju area

다국어 초록 (Multilingual Abstract)

The purpose of this paper is to strengthen the competitiveness of regional manufacturing industries in Kyongju by restructuring and overcoming their problems.
Most of the auto-parts manufacturers in Kyongju are petty, and so their managerial hardships are increasing because of the recent ecomomic crisis and high-wage and high-interest rates.
To solve this problem, the thesis examines the situations and problems of auto-parts manufacturers in Kyongju area. And it provides a solution of increasing the competitiveness of manufacturing industries in Kyongju, and of improving regional economic situations.
The most serious problems facing the manufacturers in Kyongju are as follows.
First, auto-parts manufacturers in Kyongju area are too subordinated in Ul-San economy. And so, in case one of the interrelated firm to Hyun-Dai group may strike or reduce the operation, it causes serious damage to the auto-parts manufacturers in Kyongju area.
Second, there are no government-invested financial institutions in Kyongju.
It is essential to establish regional financial institutions invested by the government.
Third, most of the companies in Kyongju are small and midium sized firms.
In a nutshell, to strengthen the competitiveness of manufacturers in Kyongju area, it is important not only to endeavor for strong competitiveness of firms, but also to harmonize regional authorities, firms, and regional residents.
In addition, the problems of firm's internal management should be solved by firms themselves. The problems of enlargement of social overhead capital, establishment of regional financial organizations, and excessive regulation etc. should be solved by local government and regional social groups.
