Use of the Internet is proliferating rapidly, with mounting speculation as to the practical applications for teaching in education, yet few published or evaluated case studies are available. This paper explores the use of the Internet sources on geography courses, especially focused on representation technique and networking of the Internet. Virtual environment produces students the opportunities which are difficult to do in the real world, and is relative to the themes such as location choice, virtual fieldwork, map reading and so on. The Internet is also a kind of computer-mediated communication, so can be useful for cooperative learning. Many instances of local studies using networking function of the Internet can be found in the U.S. and Canada, and some examples utilize GIS tool to present their results in the web. This research produced the model of distance learning apt to geography. It is tasks for geography educators to device geographical contents which are pertinent to the Internet`s networking function and other properties of the Internet.
