This study seeks to understand the actual state of the remote education experienced by out-of-school youth (youth) and to explore its effects on well-being. Accordingly, a qualitative case study was conducted with five such youth aged 14 to 18 who are currently participating in remote education. The results revealed that they regard remote education as important to continue learning and are experiencing various remote education courses provided by K-MOOC, Seoul Run, and out-of-school youth support centers. Remote education provided autonomous learning opportunities for them to experience positive emotions and immersion in learning. Such education also enabled them to explore the meaning of life through interest-based learning. However, remote education had a limitation in terms of social interaction and allowed them to experience negative emotions due to autonomous learning opportunities. Based on the research results, this study discussed the direction of such education to promote well-being.
