갈등해소, 불교의 관점과 실천방향 = Conflict Resolution, Buddhism’s Perspective and Direction of Practice: Focusing on the Perspective of “Hwajaeng” and the Methodology of “Yukhwagyeong”

국문 초록 (Abstract)

한국인들이 한국사회는 갈등이 심각한 편이라고 생각하는 이유는 작은 갈등까지도 진영간의 갈등으로 비화되는 풍토와 연관이 있다. 좌우대립과 분단, 동족상잔의 아픔과 상처를 풀어내지 못한 역사적 경험에서 출발한다. 이를 해결해야 할 정치권과 정부가 진영갈등의 폐단을 풀기위해 애쓰기보다는 자기 진영의 틀에 갇혀 갈등을 증폭시키고 있기 때문이기도 하다. 정부와 정치권은 갈등의 조정과 사회통합이라는 본연의 역할을 잊은 듯하고, 문재인 정부 때 진영갈등은 오히려 심화되었다. 시민사회, 종교계의 역할도 크게 줄어 지금은 사회갈등 해소가 필요하다거나, 역할을 자임하는 움직임도 잘 띄지 않는다. 필자는 화쟁위원회 활동 경험을 통해 갈등해소에 무기력한 사회풍토의 바탕에 세계관의 문제가 깊숙이 자리하고 있다고 보았다. 하여 불교의 연기법과 화쟁사상의 입장에서 갈등을 바라보는 세계관의 전환이 왜 필요한지, 어떠한 방향으로 전환하여야 하는지를 제안하였다. 또한 붓다가 설한 화합의 여섯가지 원리(육화경)를 현대적으로 해석하여 사회갈등 해소에 유용한 방법이 될 수 있는지 가능성을 검토하였다.

다국어 초록 (Multilingual Abstract)

The reason why Koreans think conflicts are serious in Korean society is related to the climate in which even small conflicts escalate into conflicts between camps. It starts from the historical experience of not being able to heal the pain and scars of left-right confrontation, division between the two Koreas(the North, the South). This is also because the politicians and the government, which have to solve this problem, are amplifying the conflict by being trapped in their own camp rather than trying to solve the evils of the camp conflict. The government and political circles seem to have forgotten their original role of conflict resolution and social integration, and the factional conflict intensified during the Moon Jae-in administration. The roles of civil society and religious circles have also greatly decreased, and now there is no need to resolve social conflicts or move to assume their roles. Through my experience of the Hwajaeng Committee which is to goal the reconciliation, I have seen that the problem of worldview is deeply rooted in the social climate that is helpless in resolving conflicts. Therefore, it was suggested why and in what direction it is necessary to change the worldview that looks at conflicts from the standpoint of the Buddhist acting method and the ideology of Hwajaeng. In addition, the possibility of being a useful method for resolving social conflicts was examined by modern interpretation of the six principles of harmony (the Six Lotus Sutras, Yukhwagyeong) preached by the Buddha.
