초기 성인의 자기대상경험과 건강한 자기애의 관계에서 공감지각과 자기위로능력의 매개효과 = The relationship between young adult’s self-object experience and healthy narcissism: The mediating effects of empathy perception and self-soothing ability

국문 초록 (Abstract)

목적 본 연구는 초기 성인을 대상으로 자기대상경험과 건강한 자기애와의 관계에서 공감지각과 자기위로능력의 구조적인 관계를 탐색하고 각 변인들이 어떤 경로를 거쳐 건강한 자기애를 형성하는지 살펴보고자 하였다.
방법 이를 위해 전국의 19세 이상 39세 이하의 성인을 대상으로 온라인 설문을 실시하였으며 총 533명(남 233명, 여 300명)의 자료를 분석하였다. 각 변인들 간의 관계를 추정하기 위해 SPSS 25와 MPLUS 8.6(Muthén & Muthén, 1998-2014)을 활용하여 기술통계분석, 상관분석, 구조방정식 모델링을 사용하여 매개효과를 분석하였다.
결과 본 연구의 주요 결과는 다음과 같다. 첫째, 자기대상경험, 건강한 자기애, 공감지각, 자기위로능력 변인 간에 모두 유의미한 정적상관이 있는 것으로 나타났다. 둘째, 자기대상경험과 건강한 자기애와의 관계에서 공감지각은 매개효과가 없었다. 셋째, 자기대상경험과 건강한 자기애와의 관계에서 자기위로능력은 부분매개효과가 있었다. 넷째, 자기대상경험과 건강한 자기애와의 관계에서 공감지각의 단일매개효과는 없었으나 자기대상경험이 공감지각과 자기위로능력을 순차적으로 이중매개하여 건강한 자기애에 영향을 미치는 것으로 나타났다.
결론 본 연구는 Kohut의 자기심리학 관점에서 볼 때, 자기대상경험과 건강한 자기애와의 관계에서 공감지각 및 자기위로능력이 과정 변인으로서 역할을 한다는 것을 경험적으로 확인하였다. 따라서 건강한 자기애를 형성하기 위해 교육현장, 직장, 상담 등 다양한 장면에서 자기 및 자기대상에게 개입해야 할 방향과 교육자료 및 프로그램 제공의 필요성을 확인하였다.

다국어 초록 (Multilingual Abstract)

Objectives The purpose of this study was to examine the relationship between young adults’ self-object experience and healthy narcissism, the structural relationship between empathy perception and self-soothing that was explored, and which paths each variable formed healthy narcissism through.
Methods For this purpose, an online survey was conducted on adults aged 19 to 39 across the country, and data of a total from 533 people (233 men and 300 women) were analyzed. Descriptive statistical analysis, correlation analysis, and mediating effect analysis were conducted using SPSS 25 and MPLUS 8.6 (Muthén & Mutén, 1998-2014) to estimate the relationship between each variable.
Results The results of the study are as follows. First, positive correlations between self-empathy, healthy narcissism, empathy perception, and self-soothing ability were all significant. Second, there was no significant mediation effect of empathy perception on the relationship between self-object experience and healthy narcissism. Third, there was a significant mediation effect of self-soothing ability on the relationship between self-object experience and health narcissism. Fourth, the single mediation effect of empathy perception on the relationship between self-object experience and healthy narcissism was found insignificant, however, sequential double mediation of self-object experience through empathy perception and self-soothing ability on healthy narcissism was significant.
Conclusions Based on Kohut’s self psychology, these results suggest that empathy perception and self-soothing ability play the role of procedural variables in the relationship between self-object experience and healthy narcissism. Therefore, in order to form healthy narcissism, the direction to intervene in various scenes such as education site, workplace, and counseling, and the need to provide educational materials and programs were confirmed.
