기호-자본 시대의 주체와 시의 역할 = The Role of Poetry on the Subject in the Age of Sign-Capital

다국어 초록 (Multilingual Abstract)

The consummation of information technology and financial capitalism is reorganizing the whole way of perceiving and thinking about the world. This is particularly the case when the language is separated from the specific context of life and abstracted into information units, numbers, and symbols. Considering that the subject is constituted by language, it is no doubt that this change in language causes the subject's crisis. Individuals are being abstracted into fragments that are isolated from emotions, desires, memories, and life energies and are easily replaced with others.
The poetry which arises from the desire of the utterance is summoned as a way to fight against symbolic abstraction of the subject in the point of excess of the language. It is because of the belief that the poetry can recover the subjectivity of the individual who utter poetry and recover the body's sense by promoting the continuous process of semantics by the unfinished interpretation. However, the work of how to constitute subject by speaking poetry, in other words, poetry reading and poetry writing, is only discussed on the theoretical level. It is communicated only within the community that is supposed to share a common code for poetry.
This tendency is even more serious, especially for poetry escaping from traditional lyricism, so called poetry of non-identity, such as non-personal-poetry, multiple-subject poetry. It is only communicated between insiders who shares a philosophical concept. Therefore it is failing to respond to the role of the poem that is demanded by the age of the sign-capital. In this study, it is assumed that reading poetry, including poetry of anti-identity, for constructing a 'speaker' that implies a speaking person is a useful way of constructing a subject by initiating poetic utterance, and it will play an important role to invite ‘the others’ of the community to bring the live to the reduced subject again.

국문 초록 (Abstract)

정보기술과 금융자본주의의 결탁은 세계를 인식하고 사유하는 방식을 전면적으로 재편하고 있다. 이는 특히 언어를 구체적인 삶의 맥락으로부터 분리하고 정보 단위, 숫자나 기호로 추상화하는 방식으로 진행되고 있는데, 주체가 언어에 의해 구성된다는 점을 고려할 때, 언어에 가해지는 이러한 변화가 주체의 위기를 초래한다는 것은 의심의 여지가 없다. 개인은 정서나 욕망, 기억, 생의 에너지 등으로부터 절연된 채 파편화되어 교환이 용이한 부분으로 추상화되고 있다. 언표행위의 욕망하는 힘에서 발생하는 시는 언어의 과잉(초과)이라는 점에서 주체의 이와 같은 기호적 추상화에 대항할 수 있는 방편으로 소화된다. 시를 읽는 발화 행위는 종결되지 않는 해석으로 인한 지속적인 의미화 과정을 추동함으로써 시를 읽는 개인의 주체성을 회복하고 신체의 감각을 회복할 수 있게 할 수 있다는 믿음 때문이다. 그러나 시에 재현된 주체의 양상을 파악하거나 그 의미를 논구하는 일에 비해 정작 시를 읽거나 쓰는 일 같은 언어적 실천이 주체를 구성하는데 어떻게 관여하는가에 대해서는 논의가 소홀하다. 이러한 문제는 특히 전통적인 자아 동일성을 거부하는 최근의 탈주체적 시와 관련하여 더 심각한데, 이와 같은 작품들은 철학적 개념을 공유한 공동체 내부에서만 소통됨으로써, 기호-자본 시대가 시에게 기대하는 바, 주체 구성에 실제적인 역할을 하지는 못하기 때문이다. 이 논문에서는 발화하는 인격적인 존재를 함의하는 ‘화자’를 구성하는 일이 시적 발화를 개시함으로써 주체를 구성하는 유용한 방법이라는 가정 하에, 탈주체의 시에 대해서도 이와 같은 방법론이 적용가능함을 보이고, 시를 읽는 언어적 실천이 기호화되어 가는 주체에 생기를 불어 넣을 수 있음을 규명하고자 했다.
