관광⋅호스피탈리티 전공 대학생의 글로벌역량, 고용가능성 인식, 삶의만족에 관한 연구: 사회인지진로이론을 중심으로 = A Study on Global Competence, Self-Perceived Employability, and Life Satisfaction of Tourism/Hospitality Related Undergraduate Students: Based on Social Cognitive Career Theory

The purpose of this study is to find out the relationship between global competence, self-perceived employability, and the life satisfaction of college students majoring in tourism-related studies in Korea. The importance of this study lies in the nature of the tourism industry where global competence is critical to be a part of the industry. Moreover, with a hyper-competitive globalized business environment, the employability of individuals is increasingly receiving more attentions. However, many studies on global competence and employability are mostly from management’s perspectives. With a high tendency to consider one’s wellness as a top priority and work-life balance as what people care about the most when choosing jobs, the tourism industry has been losing its popularity in the job market even for the tourism-related majoring college students. Using a sample of 147 tourism major students from G University in Korea, this study examined the relationship between global competence, perceived employability, and life satisfaction, with Social Cognitive Career Theory as its ground theory. Results included 142 students, and it showed that there was a partially significant influence of global competence on perceived employability, and perceived employability had a significant influence on life satisfaction. The finding of this study is significant since it may be the popularity recovering point of the tourism industry in the job market.

국문 초록 (Abstract)

본 연구의 목적은 한국에서 관광관련학과를 전공하는 대학생들의 글로벌역량, 고용가능성 인식및 삶의 만족도간의 영향 관계를 알아보는 것이다. 본 연구의 중요성은 관광산업이 갖고 있는 태생적인특성으로 인하여 관광산업 종사자에게 글로벌역량은 그 중요성이 높으며, 또한, 초경쟁적인 글로벌 비즈니스 환경으로 인해 개인 관점에서 자신의 고용 가능성 향상에 대한 관심이 높아짐에 따라 글로벌역량이고용가능성 인식에 미치는 영향을 파악하고자 하였다. 글로벌역량과 고용가능성에 대한 지금까지의 많은연구는 경영자 및 기업의 관점으로 접근하는 경향이 있다. 현대사회는 점차 자신의 웰니스를 최우선으로생각하는 경향이 높아지고 있으며, 일과 삶의 균형과 같은 개인적 차원의 가치를 직업 선택 시 중요하게생각하는 추세로 인하여 관광산업은 점차 관련전공 대학생들에게 진로방향으로는 매력적이지 못한 산업중 하나가 되어가고 있다. 이에, 본 연구는 한국 G대학교 관광학과 재학생 147명을 대상으로 글로벌역량이고용가능성 인식에 미치는 영향, 고용가능성 인식이 삶의 만족도에 미치는 영향을 살펴보았다. 142명이통계분석에 사용되었으며, 그 결과 글로벌역량은 고용가능성 인식에 부분적으로 유의미한 정(+)의 영향을미쳤으며 고용가능성 인식은 삶의 만족에 유의미한 정(+)의 영향을 미치는 것으로 나타났다. 본 연구의결과는 취업시장에서 관광산업의 인기 회복점이 될 수 있다는 점에서 의의가 있다.
