동적 제한 기능 및 델터 바이패스 튜닝을 이용한 추진축계의 비틀림진동 특성

Nowadays, compact marine propulsion diesel engine with five or six-cylinders and having lower maximum continuous rating (MCR) are given much preference. Increased propeller efficiency and lower repair and maintenance costs are some of its advantages that led engine makers to develop their own designs. However, the occurrence of barred speed range contributes to the cumulative fatigue due to torsional vibration on the intermediate shaft. Hence, tuning torsional vibration damper and high tensile intermediate shaft are normally installed to more the peak resonances at lower speed range away from MCR on these engine types. In this paper, a 5-cylinder 5G70ME engine and a 6-cylinder W6X72 engine were used as experimental models to confirm the torsional vibration characteristics through theoretical analysis and actual measurement data. The Dynamic Limit Function and Delta Bypass Tuning technologies were applied on 5G70ME and W6X72 engine respectively during the barred speed range passing test in accordance with the IACS Regulations 2015 amendments. Experimental results are presented herein.
