In this study, the influence of elite boxing athletes’ athletic identity on their role conflict was verified, followed by multiple group analysis of the athletes according to their performance level. To this end, 180 students were asked to answer the questions prepared based on the self-assessment method, with the following results obtained from the collected data.
First, self-identity, which is a sub-factor of exercise identity, was found to have a positive effect on the value conflict, position conflict, and student/player conflict among the role conflicts. And the justice response factor was found to have a positive effect on the value conflict and the self-identity conflict, whereas monopolization factor had a positive effect on the self-identity conflict.
Second, the identity factor of exercise identity by performance level showed a difference in influence by the performance level in student/player conflict, whereas the self-identity factor showed a relatively high influence among the excellent athlete group. And the monopolization factor of the exercise identity showed a difference in influence in the self-identity conflict among the role conflicts. The influence of exercise identity was found to be relatively high among non-excellent athlete group.
