This paper examines the contradictions of globalization through the cultural hybridity in reference to criteria for qualifying for Korean nationality of co-production films. To introduce the notion of hybridity will help explain a number of issues which are related to globalization and localization in cultural industries in general and film industries in particular. This study critically reviews the history and the new trends of international co-production of Korean films. It continues to argue that the criteria for qualifying for Korean nationality of co-production films is an institution to embrace cultural hybridity. This paper tries to discuss the generosity of hybridity illustrated in official co-production Korean films and their endeavors to articulate Korean national identity by means of cultural hybridity.
