해남반도 마한산성의 재인식

국문 초록 (Abstract)

본 논문은 해남반도 마한산성의 현황을 고고학적으로 검토해본 것이다. 이를 위해 본문에서는 우선 원삼국시대에서 삼국시대에 해당하는 것으로 알려진 해남지역의 고대 산성을 전반적으로 살펴보았다.
그 결과 해남지역에서는 마한 시기의 성곽이라고 할 만한 유적은 찾아볼 수 없었다. 마한 초기의 모습을 보여줄 수 있는 중요한 유적으로 옥녀봉토성이 거론되고 있으나, 현지 조사에서도 토성이라고 할 만한 분명한 증거는 확보할 수 없었다. 토성벽의 인위적인 조성 흔적이 발굴조사를 통해 명확하게 밝혀지지 않는 한, 현 시점에서 무리하게 마한의 토성으로 판단하기는 어려운 상황이다.
한편, 영남지역에서는 4세기 이후에나 토성이 조영되기 시작하였으며, 그 이전에는 목책이나 환호 등으로 방어가 이루어진 취락 유적이 확인되고 있다. 이를 통해 본다면 해남반도 역시 유사한 시기의 고지성 취락 유적이 확인될 가능성이 높은데, 보성 조성리와 장흥 지천리의 환호유적의 사례를 보더라도, 옥녀봉토성은 방어시설을 갖춘 고지성 취락유적이었을 가능성이 크다. 향후 옥녀봉토성에 대한 앞으로의 발굴조사는 해남반도에 존재하였던 마한 정치체의 모습을 이해하는데도 큰 도움이 될 수 있을 것으로 기대된다.

다국어 초록 (Multilingual Abstract)

This paper is an archaeological review of the distribution pattern of Mahan fortress in the Haenam-gun of Jeollanamdo.
As a result, there were no site in Haenam that could be regarded as fortress in the Mahan period. The Oknyeobong Site is mentioned as an important remains to show the early Mahan, but there was no clear evidence to be called fortress by survey. Unless the traces of the artificial construction of wall are clearly revealed through excavation, it is difficult to judge them as Mahan's fortress at this point.
Meanwhile, earthenwalls began to be observed in the Gyeongsang area after the 4th century, and prior to that, the remains of the ancient village, which were defended by wooden fences and trenchs, have been identified.
There is a high possibility that the site of the fortified settlement will be identified, even if the cases of the sites of Cho Seong-ri Site in Boseong and Jicheon-ri Site in Jangheung are seen, Oknyeobong Site is likely to have been high-altitude settlement sites equipped with defense facilities. The future excavation of the Oknyobong Fortress is expected to be of great help to understand the shape of Mahan politicians who existed in the Haenam.
