상장기업의 ERP 도입성과와 기업가치 = An Empirical Research on the Performance of ERP Implementation and the Market

ERP(Enterprise Resource Planning) system is a very popular tool for pushing management innovation, recognized as a strategic weapon of a firm and for implementing on integrated information system. The purpose of this research is to examine the performance of ERP system and the impact of the market value of the firm by financial data.First, this research examines the firm performance of ERP system. The initial data is subdivided into two groups. One is ‘before building ERP system’ and the other is ‘after building ERP system’. As for methodology, the average of year 1 and 2 before the installation of the ERP(－2～－1) and the average of year 1 and 2 after the installation of the ERP(+1～+2) are respectively compared with the average financial performance of each period. Financial performance consists of inventory turnover (Hypothesis 1), growth rate of sales (Hypothesis 2), growth rate of gross value added per capita (Hypothesis 3), and growth rate of cost of goods sold and growth rate of administrative cost (Hypothesis 4). The results of the research show that the average financial performance on before and after the installation of the ERP is significantly different from zero, where t－test technique is used in this research. In sum, there is the significant effect of ERP building on the companies where Hypothesis 1 and 4 were not rejected. Second, this research examines the impact of implementation of the ERP system on the market value of the firm (Hypothesis 5). The dummy variable regression technique is used in this research. The results of that regression analysis especially show the statistically significant variable (growth rate of cost of goods sold) for the market value of the firm.

국문 초록 (Abstract)

1980년 초반부터 생산 환경의 변화와 고객지향의 업무체계가 요구됨으로써 목적적합하고 적시에 정보를 제공하는 정보시스템의 중요성이 대두되기 시작하였다. 이러한 기업환경의 변화는 전사적 자원관리(ERP：Enterprise Resource Planning)의 활용에 대한 필요성을 형성하였다. ERP에 관한 기존 연구들은 ERP 도입기업에 대한 정보가 충분하지 못해, 도입기업 내의 ERP 관련자를 대상으로 설문조사하거나 특정기업을 대상으로 성공사례를 연구한 것이 대부분이다. 따라서 본 연구에서는 선행연구에서 ERP 도입성과로 제시한 요인들을 상장기업의 객관적인 자료인 재무제표를 바탕으로 4개의 가설로 설정하고, 이를 검정하기 위하여 ERP 도입 전후를 t－검정함으로써 ERP 도입성과를 실증 분석하였다. 또한 ERP 도입으로 기업가치에 미치는 영향변수를 검정하기 위하여 더미변수를 이용한 회귀분석을 하였다.연구결과, ERP 도입성과로 재고자산의 효율적인 관리가 가능해짐으로써 재고자산회전율이 높아지고, 원자재 관리나 생산공정의 관리가 용이해지며, 조직관리가 효율적으로 이루어져 운영비용이 절감된다는 것을 알 수 있었다. 그 성과는 도입 후 2년 후에 나타나는 것으로 나타났다. 이는 기업조직이 ERP라는 새로운 시스템에 적응하는 기간이라고 사료된다. 마지막으로 ERP 도입성과는 도입기업의 재무상태나 영업성과에 영향을 미치는 것으로 나타났다.
